Germany's best wakeboarders and wakeskaters at BOAT & FUN BERLIN 2015

WAKE MASTERS is taking place at the Berlin Boating Exhibition for the fourth time – the 1,000 square-metre pool equipped with a cable system is ideal for wakeboarding pros and aspiring beginners alike

Berlin, 16 November 2015 – From 26 to 29 November 2015, Hall 21a at BOAT & FUN BERLIN will play host to Germany’s best wakeboarders demonstrating spectacular jumps and tricks. As the venue of the fifth event, after Hanover, Berlin (Tempelhofer Hafen), Munich and Hamburg, Berlin represents the final round of the WAKE MASTERS series.

The specially constructed 20 by 50-metre pool at BOAT & FUN BERLIN combined with the WAKE MASTERS’ own cable system will provide ideal conditions for wakeboarders, allowing them to demonstrate spectacular jumps and show off their full riding skills. Friday, 27 November promises to be a particularly exciting day and will feature an open training session of the wakeboarding elite. On Saturday, 28 November the highlight will be the Wake Masters 2015 Championships featuring all categories. Those taking part in the competition, which was first held in 2009, will be vying for valuable points and a place in the rankings of the German Water Ski and Wakeboarding Association (DWWV). In Berlin, the last stop of the tournament, competitors will be able to gain up to 200 valuable points in a bid to secure first place on the podium.

In the men’s competition, which features star contestants, there are no obvious front-runners. However, in the women’s discipline 14 year-old Marie Eleni Grüneberg from Berlin is the hot favourite for the title. Locally raised, she made her debut at Wake Masters 2014, won the Hamburg round of this year’s series, is currently German champion in the under 15s, and took an outstanding fourth place at both the European Championships in 2015 and World Championships in 2014. Her main rivals are Joelina Gerards (18) from Langenfeld, runner-up in the German Junior Championships, who finished third at the European Championships in 2015, and Jasmin Böckmann (18) from Hamburg, who during Wake Masters 2015 narrowly missed out on a podium place in both Hanover and Hamburg.

In the men’s discipline Ariano Blanik (18) from Rossau, who was Junior World Champion in 2013 and European Championship runner-up in 2015, is one of the outstanding contestants of the Wake Masters series. Among those mounting a strong podium challenge will be Leroy Ney (22) from Salzgitter, who gained a podium place three times during Wake Masters 2015. This year he finished in the top ten at the Cable Wakeboard World Cup and at the European Championships. Competing for the Junior title will be Julian Hohn (15) from Teltow, who is the current German champion and was European Championship runner-up in the under 15s. At the Hamburg round of the Wake Masters in September he won the Junior title ahead of a strong field of competitors. Marvin Brose (19) from Berlin, who took second place at the Munich Wake Masters round of the series, is also certain to be in the running for the Junior title. Among the regulars contesting the Masters category will be André Börold (37), who took sixth place at the German Championships in 2015.

On Thursday, 27, Friday, 26 and Sunday, 29 November BOAT & FUN BERLIN will be offering visitors a hands-on experience of water sports with ’Wakeboarding for everyone’ as well as introductory courses. Admission is 20 euros per person. Details on how to register can be found at: www.wake-masters.com/shop.
