The winners of the Best of Boats Awards 2014 have been decided upon

Awards ceremony at BOAT & FUN BERLIN

Berlin, 28 November 2014 – On 27 November a ceremony to honour the winners of the Best of Boats Awards 2014 took place at BOAT & FUN BERLIN. Among the guests from around Europe were representatives of international boat builders and boat designers as well as importers and distributors of the winning boats.

The BOB Awards highlight everything to do with motorboat use and give greater attention to consumer behaviour than to boat categories, boat dimensions and power output, thus clearly setting them apart from other industry awards.

The Best of Boats Awards 2014 were presented in four categories, with an independent jury of 11 international boat magazine journalists in attendance. They had previously tested 165 different boats from 18 countries representing the model year 2014.

The winner of the Best for Beginners category was the Bayliner Element XL. Accepting the award, Alexis Flechier, the Sales and Portfolio planning director of Bayliner Marine EMEA), said: “Bayliner is greatly honoured to receive this accolade from Berlin boating magazines.“

Norbert Leifeld (Product manager, Motorboote Bavaria Yachtbau) accepted the award for the Bavaria Sport 360 Coupe, the winner in the Best for Family category. "For the Bavaria Sport 360 to receive the BOB Award 2014 means a lot to us as it recognises our work at Bavaria over the last 18 months," he said.

The Best for Fun category was won by the Yamarin Cross 75 Bow Rider, a boat that is particularly suited to water sports and having fun. “The secret of a boat like the Yamarin is that we listen to our customers, distributors and even to boat magazine journalists,“ said Peter Krusberg (chief of Research, Development and Production, Konekesko), who accepted the award.

In 2008 BOAT & FUN BERLIN was Germany’s first boating exhibition to feature a special display devoted to alternative engines. This year, covering a display area of 500 square metres, the E-Boat exhibition is showing the latest in boats with electric and hybrid motors. The Best for Nature category takes sustainable, energy-saving and eco-friendly leisure boat designs into account. The awards were presented to Peter Minder (CEO of the boat building company Designboats) and Christoph Ballin (CEO, Torqeedo) for the Designboats Tender 06 Oe and TorqeedoDeep Blue 80 respectively.
