On 23 November BOAT & FUN BERLIN 2016 gets under way with the GALA NIGHT OF THE BOATS, a festive and exclusive event. The exhibition itself will take place on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds from 24 to 27 November 2016. From 6 p.m. to 12 midnight at the opening event of BOAT & FUN BERLIN an impressive line-up of performers will ensure that the audience, including figures representing business and society, as well as visitors and exhibitors, can enjoy an evening to remember.

No music could be more apt for a fair about boating and outdoor sports than romantic songs with guitar playing, which is why the GALA NIGHT OF THE BOATS features singer songwriters. With booming voices and lyrics that range from happy to sad they will be fascinating the audience with music covering indie to folk and country.

Trailhead feels perfectly at home in the world of boating and outdoor sports. Not only has he spent time travelling on the river Spree near Treptow and from Torgau to Magdeburg on the Elbe, but on Lake Titicaca as well. He has explored Ecuador, thus following the trail of Alexander von Humboldt, and has crossed the island of Tenerife.

Like Trailhead, Carmen Underwater was also born in Berlin. In 2014 she won the jury award of the 1st Berliner Song Contest with her crystal clear voice. Franziska Günther calls her songs “down to earth“. A resident of Berlin by choice, she wrote some of them in the western fjords of Iceland in extremely bad weather.

Listening to Stan Silver’s songs one can feel the outdoor atmosphere of pure American country music. Originally from New York, he wears a stetson and with a southern twang in his voice combines the blues and first nation music.

Claudia Nentwich and Manfred Kanzler are a duo whose music unsmistakeably reflects post-unification Berlin. Seven times a year Nentwich organises ’songs on a boat’ on a historical freighter in Berlin together with singer songwriters from around the world. Nicolai Jan Hübner, a 23 year-old pianist writes and plays romantic chillout music and pop, and has just released a new ’live in concert’ album. His first, entitled Future, came out in 2013 around the time of his final exams at school.

Miss Victorine will also be accompanied by the piano. An artist from Berlin with around 20 years of stage experience, soul runs through her veins. Her classic swing and blues numbers get audiences into the mood after only a few minutes. Her repertoire also includes African rhythms.

The winners of the International Best of Boats Awards are due to be announced at the GALA NIGHT OF THE BOATS. A selection panel comprising members from 15 countries will honour the best motorboats of 2016 in five categories: these are Best for Beginners, Best for Family, Best for Fun, Best for Fishing and, a new category in 2016, Best for Travel. Attended by representatives of international boatbuilders, the presentation ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. in Hall 6.2.
