More exhibitors and boats: BOAT & FUN BERLIN expands again in 2017
Berlin, 13 October 2017 – The forthcoming BOAT & FUN BERLIN, which will take place from 23 to 26 November 2017, will feature more exhibitors and boats than in any previous year. Jens Heithecker, director at Messe Berlin, explains the reason for this positive trend: “This year we have received more, and above all earlier bookings. BOAT & FUN BERLIN is on the right track. We have been observing the market very closely and our concept takes the latest trends into account. The new formats created in the past two or three years have been very well received by our customers.“
In the Motorboat and Motor Yacht sections especially, participation is higher than ever before. Visitors can now find boats for every purpose in eight halls, as opposed to six last year, including those appearing for the first time on the European and world stage. Leading boatbuilders, such as Bavaria, Beneteau, Delphia, Hanse Group and Jeanneau will be exhibiting, as will premium brands, among them Committi, Galeon, Glastron, Linssen, Marex and Nimbus.
The 30-foot yacht class will also be well represented. A large number of affordable motor yachts from Brandsma, English Harbour Yacht, Futura, Platinum and ProBoot for sailing on lakes, inland waterways and coastal waters will be on display.
The Hydroplane section has also expanded significantly, and this year fast boats from the US manufacturers Four Winns, SeaRay, Stingray and Regal will feature prominently. Participation by European companies has increased too, in particular from Poland and the Netherlands. Invictus, a premium brand from Italy, will be exhibiting for the first time in Berlin. Sloeps, an increasingly popular type of boat in the Netherlands and on European lakes, will be on display in their own section, which has also expanded this year.
Inside the Classic Boat Hall, which this year will be celebrating its tenth anniversary, the ‘harbour bar’, which has its own special atmosphere, will be opening for the first time. Germany’s first and largest indoor exhibition of classic yachts will be showing a unique collection of classic craft made from wood, chrome and riveted steel by Beelitz, Boesch, Engelbrecht, Riva and Timossi.
Visitors to the jetty in Hall 25 can view the latest sailing boats and yachts as though they were in a harbour and gain an overview of the variety of designs and equipment featured by up to 35-foot boats from Bente24, Dragonfly, Seascape and Sunbeam. Other sailing boats will be on show on the stands of Bavaria, Beneteau and Jeanneau. The popular day sailer category will be on display on an adjacent raised platform. Daniel Barkowski, the project manager of BOAT & FUN BERLIN: ”Both the Berliner Yacht-Club and Verein Seglerhaus am Wannsee will be celebrating their 150th anniversary this year. Sailing has always been popular in Berlin. We look forward to expanding the Sailing categories. This is the first time a sailing event, the ‘Warnemünder Woche’, will be represented at BOAT & FUN BERLIN. The leading crews of Germany’s Premier Sailing League (Segel-Bundesliga), who will be contesting the final in early November at Verein Seglerhaus am Wannsee, will also be at the Berlin boating exhibition.
And for all those looking to conclude a private boat purchase or sale, the second-hand boat market will be exactly the place to be.
Following its successful launch last year, the Houseboat section will now be in its own hall (Hall 23). Everything to do with living on the water will be on show there, including rafts, touring houseboats for the family, and floating villas.
For the first time Germany's first fishing boat exhibition, AngelBoot Berlin, will be taking place at BOAT & FUN BERLIN. Now occupying a second hall, the newly structured Angling section will be doubling in size. Compared to last year an additional 50 fishing boats will be on display.
BOAT & FUN BERLIN will also be featuring more muscle-powered water sports. In addition to Europe’s largest indoor surfing and wakeboarding pool and a pool for testing canoes and kayaks, the show will also feature a third pool for stand up paddle boarding (SUP), a new and popular sport. Thus, the Berlin boating exhibition will be featuring yet another interactive area offering, among others, courses for paddle board yoga and stand up paddle boarding for senior citizens.
