ANGLING WORLD BERLIN 2023 – the mecca of the international angling scene

A large number of visitors at Germany’s biggest angling exhibition – ANGLING WORLD BERLIN is the marketplace and place to meet for Germany’s sports fishing industry and on the way to becoming Europe’s most important and influential angling exhibition.

Berlin, 7 December 2023 – Whether in nature or urban surroundings – fishing is adventure away from the monotony of everyday life. Enthusiasm for fishing has remained unabated for many years and fascinates amateur and sports-oriented fishing enthusiasts, beginners and experts of all ages all over Germany and around the world. Fishing today is synonymous not only with nature, tranquillity and relaxation – but also with sophisticated equipment and innovative techniques. From 1 to 3 December 2023 ANGLING WORLD BERLIN showed what the market currently has to offer and the innovations the angling scene can look forward to next year. Germany’s largest exhibition on the popular sport of fishing and major attraction for sports-oriented fishing fans and hobbyists gathered leading brands and the international stars of the scene on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds.

Bait and tackle, fashion and outdoor articles, casting and fly-fishing equipment, fishing tours and regions, and at the same time Europe’s largest marketplace for fishing boats, fishing boat systems and outboard engines – at ANGLING WORLD BERLIN in Hall 26 on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds at the same venue as BOAT & FUN BERLIN fishing enthusiasts found everything they could possibly wish for. As it continues to grow, the leading exhibition on the popular sport of fishing this year again expanded its display of brands and products: 120 exhibitors – around 20 per cent more than last year – presented their brands, products, innovations and seasonal trends on an area covering 11,000 m². They included popular names such as Abu Garcia, Balzer, Berkley, Bullseye Fishing, CWC, DUO International, Fishing Tackle Max, Fishus, FishXplorer, Garmin, Hearty Rise, Jaeger, Jenzi, Live Target, LMAB, Mikado, Mustad, Noike, Nays, Patagonia, Raymarine, Savage Gear, Shimano, Sportex, Spro, Stroft, Westin, Yeti, Yuki Competition and Zeck Fishing. With brands representing Austria, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain, a record number of international exhibitors attended this year’s event. More than 45,000 visitors came to see this year's BOAT & FUN BERLIN, as well as the joint trade fairs ANGLING WORLD BERLIN, AUTO CAMPING CARAVAN and BERLIN TRAVEL FESTIVAL.

“Bigger, more international, classier – ANGLING WORLD BERLIN continues to grow and we could not be more satisfied. The increasingly international line-up of brands, exhibitors and stars of the scene here on the grounds was impressive, but equally so the outstanding products and services and combination of exhibitors and products. That is unique in Europe.

This year we again took a giant leap forward in terms of quality. And it paid off: the halls were booked up, public interest was huge and the mood was excellent“, said a delighted Felix Steinacker, project manager for ANGLING WORLD BERLIN. ”Next year we want to attract even more international participation – we have our sights set particularly on the markets in Sweden, Japan and the US. That will finally put us on track to become Europe’s leading event“, Felix Steinacker added. .

What exhibitors have to say about ANGLING WORLD BERLIN 2023:

Daniel Scott, SPRO:
“The excellent organisation at ANGLING WORLD BERLIN, the growing partnerships and the wide-ranging advertising networks provide an ideal platform. At the same time, for the angling scene the event here in Berlin is an unforgettable experience. Being able to meet keen and enthusiastic members of the angling scene who had come from all over Europe to meet the stars, find out about the latest products and trends and exchange views among each other really was fantastic. We are over the moon! ANGLING WORLD BERLIN has secured its place on our annual calendar of events.“

Daniel Andriani, LMAB / Hecht & Barsch:
“We have been exhibiting at ANGLING WORLD BERLIN for seven years – it is impressive to see how the exhibition is expanding each year here in Berlin. It has now become one of Europe’s leading players, if not the continent’s largest event. We are delighted to have made our contribution. For us, coming from Berlin, ANGLING WORLD BERLIN is always a home fixture. We are pleased to see not only Berliners here, but fans from all over the world.”

Eddie James Payton, Mustad:
“Germany is an important market for fans of angling predatory fish, so it was great fun to exhibit our products here and get talking to people. We discovered brands we had never seen at home. It was fascinating to exchange views with customers on where we stand in comparison with other products. The mixture of visitors was great. As well as from Germany, we met people from Poland and the Benelux countries.“

Dustin Schöne, Nays Baits:
“ANGLING WORLD BERLIN went extremely well again this year. Last year we already thought the previous event could not be bettered. However, this year we experienced a huge jump in turnover and visitors, which was great for us of course. All the fishing scene influencers who attract visitors are here – something you won’t find at any other fair in Germany.“

Kai Launhardt, Shimano:
“Shimano is especially focused on products for angling freshwater predatory fish – which is why ANGLING WORLD BERLIN is the ideal show for us in Germany. The emphasis here is not just on sales, but on a wide range of exhibitors. We stand with everything ANGLING WORLD BERLIN represents: the stands, organisation, participants – it all comes together here!“

Alexander Seggelke, Deutscher Angelfischerverband e.V. (DAFV):
“Looking at how things have developed in recent years – public attendance, the overall interest shown by the industry in Germany and around Europe, the coverage in the media – ANGLING WORLD BERLIN has no equal. The exhibition was an unbelievable success again this year, in particular because it was able to attract the international fishing scene’s leading names. Such a massive reach makes it possible to draw in a really wide range of visitors. The concept and commitment of Felix Steinacker and his team are the reason why this event is so successful. One could say the whole thing was fresh. Definitely an event not to be missed.”

Carsten Zeck, Zeck Fishing:
“ANGLING WORLD BERLIN was and is the leading exhibition for fans of angling predatory fish in German-speaking countries – nothing compares with it. Not only are people extremely interested, they flock to the event. I have never before seen the numbers we had here on our stand this year. It was incredible, visitors from everywhere. We met people from Bavaria and other parts of southern Germany who had combined ANGLING WORLD BERLIN with a weekend in the capital.“

André Giermann, Stroft Fishing Lines:
“This is our third time here and we have to say the quality and diversity of exhibitors and stand displays is getting better and better. Trade fairs are important for us especially for making direct contact with our customers. And this is where we meet them all – companies of all sizes and from all parts of society. As Germany’s largest angling exhibition, ANGLING WORLD BERLIN is the only consumer show it makes sense to attend.“

Markus Müller, Zefix Fishing:
“ANGLING WORLD BERLIN was phenomenal yet again. Compared with other trade fairs in Germany and Austria nothing comes close to the flair and excellent organisation at this event. The fantastic wide range of products and services makes ANGLING WORLD BERLIN the place to be in Germany.“

Jacob Hanc, Jiggar.Nu:
“Berlin and Germany in general are an important market for us, which is why this year we are here at ANGLING WORLD BERLIN for the first time. Trade fairs provide an excellent platform especially when you are from abroad and want to position your products on a new market. This first time at ANGLING WORLD BERLIN was a test for us, and we can already say we will definitely be back next year. There were so many nice people there, the organisation was fantastic – we are very satisfied.“

Dietmar Isaiasch, Westin:
“Once again, ANGLING WORLD BERLIN 2023 went very well for our brand and partner shops. We met lots of consumers and fans of Westin in person. The positive feedback from retailers ensured we will be here again in Berlin in the future. ANGLING WORLD BERLIN has become one of the largest trade fairs in German-speaking countries and together with the fishing boat hall is probably one of the largest we have attended in Europe. For anyone wishing to exhibit their latest products and trends to an enthusiastic audience, ANGLING WORLD BERLIN is an event not to be missed. We will definitely be back in 2024. Please book exactly the same stand location and area size for us again!”

Manuel Ostermeier, Sportex:
“ANGLING WORLD BERLIN is the place to be. The mood among visitors is so good because the exhibition is so well organised – parking and getting there is easy. The project manager Felix Steinacker can always be contacted, a fantastic service for us as exhibitors. Whether for enjoying techno or fishing – Berlin is a hot tip, and that means ANGLING WORLD BERLIN is in exactly the right place.“
