ANGLING WORLD BERLIN 2022 – The epicentre of the international angling scene

Huge attendance at Germany’s largest trade fair for angling enthusiasts – ANGLING WORLD BERLIN has established itself as the trade fair hub for the angling industry and meeting place of the international angling scene

Berlin, 30 November 2022 – Whether on rivers and lakes in the countryside or urban surroundings – angling means adventure away from everyday life. Enthusiasm for angling has continued unabated for many years and is shared by sports and amateur anglers, as well as beginners and professionals of all ages everywhere in Germany and around the world. At the same time, more and more young people and women are enjoying the sport. From 25 to 27 November 2022 on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds, ANGLING WORLD BERLIN showed how it has become a major trend.

During the three-day event, on an area covering 10,000 m², over 200 exhibitors and companies, including from Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovenia and Spain displayed their products, innovations and trends for the upcoming angling season. Popular brand names included Balzer, Bullseye Fishing, DUO International, Eisele Sea Fishing, Hearty Rise, LMAB, Nays, Patagonia, Savage Gear, Shimano, Sportex, SPRO, Stroft, Westin, Yeti, Yuki Competition and Zeck Fishing. Bait & Tackle, Boats & Navigation, Fashion & Outdoor, Casting & Fly Fishing, Travel & Precincts – at ANGLING WORLD BERLIN in Hall 26 on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds, part of BOAT & FUN BERLIN, no angling enthusiasts’ wishes remained unfulfilled.

“ANGLING WORLD BERLIN has become the epicentre of the international angling scene. It is not just exhibitors and brands we are attracting and who attend the event. Big names on the angling scene are also here in Berlin, because it is simply the place to be“, said Felix Steinacker, project manager for ANGLING WORLD BERLIN. International stars from the angling scene including Mille Pettersson, Sara Fingal and Tobias Ekvall of kanalgratis from Sweden, Toon van Ham from Belgium, Mikky de Boon from the Netherlands, Ken Iyobe from Japan, Frédéric Jullian from France and Patrick Marrable from the UK mingled with visitors and offered tips and useful information. Altogether, more than 200 international stars of the angling scene came to Berlin, including many from Germany. Among them were AngelAnni, Torsten Ahrens, Daniel Andriani, Freddy Harbort, Horst Hennings, Dietmar Isaiasch, Veit Kazimiersch, Jan Pusch, Dustin Schöne, Enrico Di Ventura, Toni Wehn, Veit Wilde and many others. Sports and amateur anglers as well as those who want to become one, were thrilled by the displays of new equipment and gadgets in the crowded exhibition halls. In their role as Special Events partners, the angling tournaments WPC (World Predator Classic), YPC (YouTube Predator Cup) and Zander Pro organised firsts and highlights in Berlin. An outstanding programme of supporting events including the Angling Forum, expert discussions, casting areas, baiting demonstrations and cooking shows augmented the displays and attracted keen interest.

“Bigger, even more international and higher-quality – ANGLING WORLD BERLIN really is impressive – and not just because of the exhibitor and brand lineup, which is becoming more and more international. Overall, we took a big leap forward quality-wise this year and reaped the rewards. The halls were packed, and coming together here was great. I am happy to be able to say that this was the most successful ANGLING WORLD BERLIN ever“, Felix Steinacker added.

Exhibitors’ comments on ANGLING WORLD BERLIN 2022

Dustin Schöne, Nays:
“It was absolutely amazing for us this year. Lots of people on the stands, a great atmosphere, all in all a total success. Berlin is definitely ideal for a trade fair like this. One of the reasons is Berlin naturally has lots of water around it, which means many angling enthusiasts come here. I think combining angling, boating and water sports with camping and caravanning is a great idea, because naturally it generates synergies.“

Markus Bill, SPRO:
“Our verdict: fantastic. We had lots of visitors on the stand and interest in our products was huge. ANGLINGWORLD BERLIN is Germany’s number one.“

Kai Launhardt, Shimano:
“This is our first year at ANGLINGWORLD BERLIN and I have to say my expectations were exceeded. We had lots of visitors on our stand, attracted keen attention and had excellent feedback all round.

Thorsten Trojan, Rheinlandboote:
“I hardly had any time to tour the stands of ANGLINGWORLD BERLIN because it was so amazingly crowded. I appreciate ANGLINGWORLD being part of BOAT & FUN BERLIN because as fishing boat manufacturers we can attract both customers groups. Combining it with camping and caravanning was also a clever idea because they are similar audiences.“

Toni Wehn, Hecht & Barsch:
“Once again, it was a great fair for us – it was incredible. It’s all trending in the right direction. The show we are putting together here is for the whole of Germany. What is always impressive is that the big names from the angling scene are here in Berlin. Being able to meet the ones you know from YouTube is a huge selling point.“

Carsten Zeck, Zeck Fishing:
“There was a lot of activity at ANGLINGWORLD BERLIN. We had many people on the stand, from Frankfurt, the Saar, where we come from, Bavaria, and many other places.“

André Giermann, Stroft:
“One thing we appreciate and which is always special here at the fair is being in touch with the customer. As a manufacturer with no retail shop of our own, that is not something we take for granted. It is simply great to get various views, suggestions and reactions face-to-face. It’s what makes this event for us. Angling World Berlin is on the right track and in the right place here.“

Markus Müller, Zefix Fishing:
“ANGLING WORLD BERLIN has a flair that is different from other exhibitions in southern Germany and Austria, which we also attend often. People here in Berlin are very open-minded and good-humoured and everything is a bit more relaxed. That makes it very pleasant, fun, and worth our while. The combination of different events benefits us. Boating and camping enthusiasts both buy our products. Being here is great because everybody who comes by is potentially interested in us.“
